Walking

Maidenfields is located in between Chilton and Sudbury, which means you get the quietness of Chilton Village, and a livelier atmosphere of the beautiful market town that is Sudbury.

A short 25-minute walk southwest will take you into Sudbury town centre, where you’ll find places to eat, drink, do your weekly shop and enjoy exploring on foot.

Along with getting the essential household items, a little further west you will find luscious green walks in the Sudbury common lands and water meadows, great for the dog walks!

Since 2020, we have rediscovered the simpleness and joy of walking; it’s a great way to get around and an underrated exercise that has plenty of health benefits. Government guidance suggest adults should complete at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day and walking is a great contributor.

Get to know your local area...

There are many beautiful walks in Suffolk and close to your new home.

If you’re new to the area, why not get your steps in doing a bit of sightseeing and bask in the history of the ancient market town.

To name a few, there is:

  • Gainsborough House, which explores the life and art of Thomas Gainsborough. One of the greatest artists of his age, renowned for his portrait and landscape paintings.
  • The Quay Theatre, which hosts a variety of performances and music events, located quaintly on the riverside.

Or simply enjoy Sudbury town centre, which was awarded Town of the Year‘ in the Suffolk Community Awards in 2019!

May is National Walking Month, it’s also just a few weeks away from summer officially starting! So make sure to get on your feet, get outside and get involved in some type of walking event this spring. You could go the extra mile and raise money for charity…

Other than it being National Walking Month, there’s a more specific event available to the residents of Suffolk – The highly anticipated Suffolk Walking Festival.

Suffolk Walking Festival takes place across Suffolk County starting on the 11th of May. To learn more, and book your tickets, visit the website here.

May also brings another great walking event, aimed at children – Walk To School Week.

Walk To School Week takes place from the 20th to the 24th of May. This goal is to inspire children to be more active in their day-to-day lives. You can sign up to this great event through the Living Streets Website.
